  1. Wing Yew @ TeAM says:

We have a roomful of turnout for this meet-up, with most attendees has some interest in the US market.

Rico Ho from CRN Solutions started off the event with a briefing of his recent journey exhibiting his product at Las Vegas. He was quite surprised having to pay for electricity at his booth; carrying a 24″ LCD monitor for 1km from the parking to the exhibition hall just to find out that his monitor is the smallest and half the size among the hundreds of exhibitors in the area; having a cramped booth even though he spends a lot of money in it. Despite the pitfall, his presence at the function did paid back positively, indirectly.

The session follows up by Rani from Cworks Systems. Among the thousands of customer they have, a huge number of it comes from North America. They didn’t setup a physical presence in the country until they have few hundred customers there back then. He shares strategies of selling software worth hundred thousand dollars apiece, to a vast market with a price below $500. As the humble Rani speaks, till date Cworks has customers all over the world, and in spite of the recent economy downturn, they are constantly taking feedbacks from the customer and enhance the product.

Dr. V Sivapalan, who are the founder and current advisor for TeAM, share his experience dealing business in the states, compare to the market in UK and some other part of the world. Americans in a small crowd, such like a user group get-together, are much more interactive compare to Asians in a similar crowd size. Malaysian business people should not be shunned to representing a Malaysian product or service, and should learn and live the American culture while dealing business there.
